PC⁴/PAC³ Spring Conference
Each Spring, we host our annual international PC⁴/PAC³ Conference in partnership with the Pediatric Acute Care Cardiology Collaborative.
This joint meeting allows us to have dedicated sessions about pediatric cardiac critical care as well as joint sessions that span both critical care and acute care for the hospitalized patient with cardiac disease. Our meeting is highly interactive and centers are encouraged to collaborate and learn from one another while openly and transparently sharing data, outcomes, and practices.
Thank you to all of you who were able to join us at the PC4/PAC3 Spring Conference in Dallas April 30th-May 2nd! We are very grateful to the outstanding Children’s Health team for so generously hosting this year’s conference.
We also wish to extend our gratitude to the following additional sponsors: Texas Children’s Hospital for sponsoring our hearty breakfasts, Dell Children’s Medical Center for sponsoring our delicious lunches, Nuwellis, Inc for sponsoring our PC4 social outing, and Cardiac Registries Support, Inc for sponsoring our URiM Scholarship.
Previous conferences were held and sponsored by the following centers.
2014-2017: University of Michigan
2018: Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
2019: University of Michigan
2020-2021: Virtual Conference
2022: Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta
2023: The Hospital for Sick Children
2024: Children’s Health
We look forward to announcing the location and dates of the PC4/PAC3 Spring Conference in 2025 soon!
Please see a list of all PC⁴ Publications here:
DEI Statement
The PC⁴ Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee was developed in 2021 to address disparate outcomes in critically ill children with heart disease through the many avenues of PC⁴, including scientific research, quality improvement, and data collection. We aim to incorporate EDI principles into the structure and workflow of PC⁴ so that a health equity lens is fundamental to all PC⁴ operations. We also strive to understand and increase diversity and inclusion in the pediatric cardiac critical care workforce and collaborate with our Cardiac Network United colleagues to advance health equity in the pediatric cardiac patient population.
PC⁴, in partnership with PAC³, began a URiM (Underrepresented in Medicine) Cardiology & Cardiac Critical Care scholarship to help fund trainees from underrepresented backgrounds to travel to national and international cardiology and critical care meetings to share their science and gain valuable networking and other opportunities.
Our two first scholars were able to attend the 8th World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery in Washington, D.C. in late 2023 to share their scientific findings with the world.
Thank you to Cardiac Registry Support, Inc. for sponsoring our second set of awardees. We were delighted to have Dr. Christian Bayingana from Maine Medical and Dr. Maria Pareja Zabala from Medical College of Wisconsin join us at the PC⁴/PAC³ meeting in Dallas in 2024!
Future scholarship opportunities will be listed here as they become available.
The PC⁴ Junior Investigator Mentoring and Sponsorship Program
Objective 1: To train junior investigators in health services research using clinical registry data
through an intensive one-on-one mentoring program with experienced senior investigators possessing methodological expertise in this domain.
Objective 2: Increasing diversity, inclusiveness and representation in the pediatric cardiac critical care scientific community and contribute to the promotion/advancement of underrepresented
investigators within academia.
